Let’s Be Friends aims to nurture the building blocks of social and emotional well-being! Kids will engage in activities that promote confidence, relationship development, and a positive outlook towards others.

Program Description

Let’s Be Friends utilizes interactive circle discussions, engaging activities, story readings, and visual aids to encourage positive behaviors, foster self-confidence, build relationships, and teach conflict resolution skills among children aged 5-9.

Building confidence in ourselves
After fun introductions, the class dives into the book "I Like Myself" by Karen Beaumont, sparking a circle discussion about the importance of self-liking and its connection to building positive relationships.

Learning how to share
Through circle discussions and engaging activities like Magna tiles, dress-up parties, and playdough, your child will explore the dynamics of class play, addressing conflicts as they arise. The session will emphasize the importance of compromise and shared activities, drawing parallels to school settings and offering insights into the discovery of new interests.

Looking at the positive qualities in others
Through engaging activities, such as making a list of positive qualities in others and reading "Balloons and Cake" by Craig Robinson, kids will gain insights into what makes a good friend and learn valuable lessons about keeping promises and showing kindness.

Building and keeping friendships
Through circle discussions, kids will explore the impact of unkind words and behaviors, recognizing that actions perceived as funny or okay to one may hurt others. The session includes interactive activities where children share examples of not-so-nice phrases and behaviors and collaboratively come up with positive responses.

This program is held on Saturdays from 12:30pm-1:30pm at our downtown Jersey City location.
